Pamela, Nida, charity, LithuaniaPamela was inspired to look for ways to help people in Lithuania after going on holiday there.  She searched the web for charities, involved in helping Lithuania, and came across Send It to Lithuania. This was a few years ago. Since then Pamela donated numerous bags of quality clothes and bedding which blessed many families in Lithuania. She has also helped with financial donations.

Pamela’s Story

I visited Lithuania with my husband in 2006. We stayed in Kaunas and then drove to Klaipėda and then by ferry to Nida where we spent a few days. During our stay in Lithuania, I was very touched by the kindness and sincerity of the people who we met. Above all, I admired their strength of character and their resilience. We met a man called Eduardas who was proud to transport us in the funicular at Kaunas and when we were walking near Nida, an elderly gentleman invited us into his home to show us the oven that he used for heating. My husband is an epidemiologist and has colleagues in Lithuania so we are aware that many Lithuanians are experiencing difficulties which can lead to health problems but do not have the health facilities which we enjoy in the UK.

When my mother died a few years ago, I wanted to donate her clothes and other items to someone who would really appreciate them and put them to good use. I discovered Daiva’s project on the internet. When I realised that the Church is based in Klaipéda – I knew that this was really meant to be!. All the gifts donated to her project are transported by a driver who takes them direct to the Church and then they are distributed to the families. I am very glad to be able to help in a small way.
